TV repair at home in Geneva: television, TV box and landline
A television that won't turn on, a frozen TV box, a stuttering picture, a silent landline: when things go wrong, it is hard to tell whether the fault lies with the TV, the set-top box (the TV box) or the Internet router. That is exactly what I fixed for years at Swisscom customers' homes, and I handle all three.
Television, set-top box or Internet router: what are we talking about?
In most homes, television goes through three devices, and two of them are commonly called a "box". No problem: over the phone, I help you work out which one is at fault.
- The television: the screen itself (Samsung, LG, Sony, Philips...), its settings, its HDMI inputs and its apps.
- The TV set-top box, also called the TV box: the provider's unit that brings in the channels (Swisscom blue TV, Sunrise TV Box, Apple TV with Salt).
- The Internet router, also called the box: Swisscom Internet-Box, Sunrise box or Salt Fiber Box, which brings the Internet to the set-top box and the whole home.
The television (all brands)
- TV that won't turn on, no longer responds to the remote, no sound or no picture: on-site diagnosis to tell a settings, source, cable or power issue from a genuine internal fault.
- Samsung, LG, Sony, Philips and other Smart TVs: Wi-Fi connection, installing apps (Netflix, YouTube, Play Suisse...), updates, accounts.
- Installing your new television: mounting, cabling, picture settings, pairing with your TV box and your other devices.
- An honest diagnosis: if the panel or the electronics are at fault, I tell you clearly and advise you on the next step (workshop repair or replacement) rather than charging you for a pointless call-out.
The TV box (Swisscom, Sunrise, Salt)
- Full installation of your set-top box (blue TV box, Sunrise TV, Apple TV with Salt): cabling, configuration, channels, replay, recordings.
- Set-top box troubleshooting: black screen, stuttering or pixelated picture, missing channels, TV box stuck in a reboot loop, unresponsive remote.
- Optimisation: wireless or wired link between the Internet router and the set-top box for a stable picture, even when the whole family is online.
Phones
- Getting your landline working again: silent phone, no dial tone, unable to make or receive calls.
- Setting up your handsets: pairing cordless phones, voicemail, call forwarding.
- Smartphone help: setup, e-mail, transferring data from an old device, connecting to Wi-Fi and accounts.

Frequently asked questions
My TV won't turn on any more. Can you fix it at my home?
I start with a diagnosis at your place: very often it comes down to the power supply, the remote, the HDMI source or a setting, all of which can be sorted on the spot. If the TV has an internal fault (panel, board), I tell you honestly and advise you on the next step (workshop repair or replacement), without charging you more than the diagnosis.
Do you work on every TV brand (Samsung, LG, Sony, Philips)?
Yes. Settings, Wi-Fi connection, apps, updates, cabling and pairing with your TV box: I look after every television and Smart TV, whatever the brand.
My TV box (Swisscom blue TV, Sunrise TV or Salt TV) has stopped working. What should I do?
Start by unplugging it completely for 30 seconds. If the problem persists, it may be a stalled update, the HDMI cable or a lost connection between the set-top box and the Internet router. I run the diagnosis to find the real cause.
Why does my TV picture stutter or freeze?
It is most often due to insufficient Wi-Fi throughput between the Internet router and the TV box, especially when several devices are connected at the same time. A wired link or a better spot for the Wi-Fi extender solves most cases.
My landline has no dial tone, but the Internet works. Why?
Landlines now run over the Internet (VoIP) rather than a separate line. No dial tone while the Internet still works usually means a setting has to be redone on the router after a restart, or a handset is no longer paired.
Can I watch Netflix or Play Suisse directly on my TV box?
Yes, most recent TV boxes include these apps. I set up the accounts and shortcuts so everything is reachable straight from the remote, without juggling several devices.
