Setting up Salt TV (Apple TV 4K)

With Salt there is no classic TV box: television runs through the Apple TV 4K supplied with the subscription and the Salt TV app. Here are the steps to install it yourself. If it gets stuck, or if you would rather have it done for you, I can come to your home.

  1. Check the Salt Fiber Box

Your Internet router must be on with its Internet light steady. Without Internet, Salt TV will not start.

  2. Plug in the Apple TV 4K

HDMI cable to a free input on the television, then the power cable. Select that HDMI input on the TV remote.

  3. Connect the Apple TV to the Fiber Box

With a network cable (recommended, more stable for TV) or over Wi-Fi during setup, with the password printed on the back of the Fiber Box.

  4. Set up the Apple TV

Follow the assistant: language, network, then sign in with an Apple ID (you can create one on the spot or use the one on your iPhone, which sets up the Apple TV automatically).

  5. Open the Salt TV app

If it is not already there, install it from the App Store. Sign in with your Salt customer account credentials.

  6. Wait for the updates

The Apple TV and the app may update on first start-up. Do not unplug anything during this step; the channels appear afterwards.

If it doesn't work

The most common sticking points: HDMI cable not clicked in or wrong input selected on the TV, Wi-Fi too weak between the Fiber Box and the Apple TV (a wired connection solves most cases), an Apple ID blocking the setup, or Salt credentials refused in the app. If after these steps the picture stays black or the Salt TV app doesn't show your channels, I can come and set it up at your home.
