Office IT moves in Geneva: everything works from day one

Moving your practice, fiduciary, association or shop in Geneva, Switzerland? I handle the whole IT side: inventory, labelled take-down, reinstallation and testing of workstations, server, network, Wi-Fi and phones. For organisations of up to about fifteen workstations, anywhere in the canton, on quotation. Explanations in English, French or Spanish.

Moving offices without losing a working day

In an office move, the furniture rarely arrives late. What holds up the restart is IT: a printer that no longer responds, a server reconnected in the wrong order, an Internet line not yet transferred, silent phones. My job is to prepare all of this in advance so your team can work as soon as they arrive.

What I take care of

The method in 6 steps

  1. Visit and inventory

I come and see your current premises: workstations, server, network, printers, phones. If possible, I also visit the new premises.

  2. Plan and quote

You receive a moving plan and a detailed quote, with the timetable and the time planned for each step.

  3. Coordination

With your provider for the line transfer, with your movers for transporting the equipment, and with your IT provider if you have one.

  4. Labelled take-down

Photos, labels, cables bundled per workstation. In the evening or at the end of the week if you want to avoid downtime.

  5. Reinstallation and tests

Everything is reconnected and tested workstation by workstation before your team arrives, including over the weekend if needed.

  6. Final check

We go round the workstations together before I leave. If a detail is missing when you reopen, you call the same number and get me.

Moving date set? Call 078 733 94 96: the earlier we plan, the smoother the restart.

Who is it for?

Freelancers and small organisations of 1 to about fifteen workstations: medical and therapy practices, law firms, fiduciaries, architects, associations, shops and restaurants. Beyond that, or for a yearly IT maintenance contract, a specialised company is a better fit: I will tell you so honestly.

Already have an IT provider?

Great. Many small organisations work with a remote provider who cannot carry a server or reconnect a switch. I am their hands on site: I follow their instructions, send them photos, and they stay in charge of your servers, accounts and backups.

Movers: I handle the IT side

Do you organise business moves in Geneva and get asked who takes care of the computers? I can work as a partner or subcontractor for the IT side: labelled take-down before you arrive, reinstallation and testing afterwards. Call me to discuss it.

An example job

What I do not do

I do not pull cables through walls or false ceilings: that is a job for an electrician or telecoms installer. I help you prepare the request (number of sockets, rack location), then connect and test the equipment once the sockets are in place.

How much does an office IT move cost?

Every move is different: number of workstations, whether there is a server, distance, evening or weekend work. After the visit, I send you a detailed quote based on my hourly rate of CHF 84, final price, with the time planned for each step. Any hardware (cables, switch, Wi-Fi access point) is priced separately and only bought with your agreement. Details on the rates page.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should we contact you?

As soon as the moving date is known. Transferring the Internet and phone line with your provider takes time, and the provider often sets the timetable. The earlier we plan, the easier it is to avoid any downtime on the day you reopen.

Can you work evenings or weekends to avoid downtime?

Yes. For an office move, I can take things down in the evening or on Friday and reinstall over the weekend, by appointment, so your team finds everything working on Monday morning. We set this timetable together when preparing the quote.

What do we need to prepare?

The list of your workstations and devices if you have one, access to your provider account, your mover's contact and, if you have one, your IT provider's. We go through passwords together on site: never send them by e-mail.

Do you work with our current IT provider?

Yes. Many small organisations have a provider who works remotely. I become their hands on site: I take down, reconnect and test following their instructions, and they stay in charge of your servers and accounts.

Do you run network cabling inside the walls?

No. I do not pull cables through walls or false ceilings: that is a job for an electrician or telecoms installer. I help you prepare what to ask them, then connect and test all the equipment once the sockets are in place.
