Soundbars and connected speakers: setup and repair at your home in Geneva
Sonos, Bose, Samsung, LG, JBL, Sony: a modern soundbar is above all a connected device, with its app, its Wi-Fi and its HDMI port. When it stays silent, disappears from the app or refuses to follow the TV remote, the problem rarely lies with the device itself. I come to your home, connect it properly and get it working with your television, your set-top box and your network.
What I do
- Setup and cabling: HDMI ARC or eARC, optical cable, Bluetooth, subwoofer and wireless rear speakers, positioning in the room.
- App configuration (Sonos, Bose Music, Samsung SmartThings, LG ThinQ...): account, Wi-Fi network, updates, sound settings (night mode, speech enhancement).
- Multiroom and streaming music: several speakers around the home, Spotify, Apple Music, AirPlay, radio, voice assistants.
- A single remote: enabling HDMI-CEC so the TV remote switches the soundbar on and controls the volume.
- Integration with everything else: television, TV set-top box (blue TV, Sunrise TV, Apple TV), console, Blu-ray player, turntable.
- A suitable Wi-Fi network: if the soundbar or the speakers drop out, I check the coverage and fix the network rather than guessing.
The faults I fix most often
- The soundbar produces no sound while the TV works
- Sonos or Bose "not found" in the app, especially after a change of Internet router
- Sound out of sync with the picture (lips moving before the sound)
- The TV remote doesn't control the soundbar's volume
- The subwoofer or rear speakers keep disconnecting
- Music cuts out or skips in multiroom
- Dialogue is inaudible, explosions too loud
What I don't do on home visits
I don't open devices: a burnt-out amplifier, a damaged speaker or a torn-off socket are matters for the brand's after-sales service. If the diagnosis shows an internal fault, I tell you before going any further and explain the next steps, warranty included.
Tell me the brand and what is happening on 078 733 94 96: often I can already tell you whether it is a setting, a cable or the network.
Frequently asked questions
My Sonos soundbar no longer appears in the app since I changed my Internet router. What should I do?
It is the most common fault: the new router creates a new Wi-Fi network, and the soundbar stays connected to the old one, which no longer exists. It has to be reconnected to the new network from the app, and sometimes the multiroom system has to be reset. I do it on site and check at the same time that the Wi-Fi covers the spot where it sits.
My TV has sound, but nothing comes out of the soundbar. Why?
The television is sending the sound to its own speakers instead of the soundbar. The cause is almost always an audio output setting, an HDMI cable plugged into a port that is not the ARC port, or an optical cable not clicked in. It is usually fixed in a few minutes once the right port and setting are identified.
Can I control the soundbar's volume with my TV remote?
Yes, in the vast majority of cases, thanks to HDMI-CEC (called Anynet+ at Samsung, Simplink at LG, Bravia Sync at Sony). It has to be enabled on both sides. Some soundbars, like Sonos, can also learn the TV remote directly.
Do you repair a soundbar that won't turn on any more?
I run the diagnosis at your home: power supply, cable, stuck update or a reset solve some cases. If the fault is internal (amplifier, speaker), I do not open it at home: I tell you clearly and point you to the brand's after-sales service, especially if the device is still under warranty.
