Smartphone update help at your home in Geneva
An update that fails, a phone saying it has run out of space, a banking app that refuses to open until the system is up to date: I do the update with you, after making sure your data is safe.
What I do
- Full backup before any update: photos, contacts, WhatsApp. I start nothing until your data is safe.
- Stuck or failed update on iPhone, iPad or Android.
- Not enough space: I free up room without deleting your photos.
- Apps to update: banking, TWINT and other apps that require a recent system version.
- After the update: changed settings, moved icons, notifications, all put back the way you were used to.
- Phone too old for the latest version: I tell you honestly whether it can still do the job, and I transfer your data if you replace it.
Do you really need to install updates?
Yes. They mostly fix security flaws, and that is what protects your accounts, your photos and your e-banking. The risk is not the update itself, but an update started without a backup, without space or without battery. That is why I always begin with a backup.
What I don't do
I cannot install a version the manufacturer no longer offers for your model, and I do not install modified or unofficial systems. If a phone is stuck at start-up after a failed update, I attempt the official restore with a computer: the data can then only be recovered if a backup exists. And if the fault is in the hardware, I point you to a repair shop.

Is it risky to update my phone?
Very little, provided you have a backup, enough space and enough battery. Problems almost always come from an update that was interrupted or started on a phone that was full. Not updating is riskier, because security flaws stay open.
My phone says there is not enough space for the update. What should I do?
You need to free up room, but not by deleting photos at random. Videos, files received on WhatsApp and unused apps often take up most of it. The update can also be done by connecting the phone to a computer, which needs less space.
My phone no longer receives updates. Should I replace it?
Not necessarily straight away, but it is a signal. Without security updates, some apps, banking apps in particular, eventually stop working. I tell you what still works on your model and when replacing it becomes sensible.
